Summer Reading Makes for Great Long Distance “Q.T.”

This post was inspired by the classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. To celebrate, Penguin Young Readers Group, in partnership with Dylan’s Candy Bar, the world-famous candy emporium, and First Book, a nonprofit social enterprise that provides books for children from low-income families, is launching a year-long international celebration.

I live for “mommy time”, dance recitals, and to be the homework helper. Making the decision to work from home (financially) has been the hardest thing I have ever endured but for my family, it has been the most rewarding. zours-movie-snack Chewsy Kids are still on summer vacation. I’m not going to act like I don’t miss them, but I have been enjoying the time I have been getting to spend with Buckaroo. It’s nice to have thought-provoking, meaningful conversation with…an adult. :-) One of the things we love to do together that we have been able to do often since the kids are away is have movie night. We love movies and can watch ones we love over and over again like we’ve never seen it. I usually pick up our movie snacks at Walmart, and this time was no different. In addition to our movie date dinner (usually homemade hot wings and salad) we also get popcorn and candy! You have to create the entire theater experience. So great munchies are important! Like you have too much on your plate? That’s how I felt when I went to Walmart to do my shopping for the week. In the colder months people find comfort in soups, chilis, stews etc. In the summer my comfort food is burgers. We love to grill and a good grilled burger with a sweet tea on my back porch, puts my mind on vacation when I can’t get away. Continue Reading
