Father’s Day is this weekend and I am JUST thinking about what to get Buckaroo. I know I’m awful! And this is his first Father’s Day! He has celebrated the last three with us as an amazing dad to Em and Koko, but Zoe is the first “fruit of his loins”. (That term always tickles me.) Anyway, have you started shopping yet?
I get cologne for Buckaroo on just about every holiday and trust me, if I got him another one he would be thrilled. He’s a cologne junkie.:-) This year I want to do something more practical. Give him something he can use. We’ve just recently taken the plunge into being business owners so I’ve been paying close attention over the past few months to see what was on his wishlist. Even though he doesn’t work in a traditional kitchen anymore, ‘the chef game’ remains the same and he still needs a full arsenal. So after I shared a gift guide for chefs who are moms, I thought it was only right to share one for dads…just in case you are a procrastinator like me…
1. – I know, I know. Men don’t want socks. Wrong! Chefs want socks. Especially socks that will keep their feet cushioned and dry when you have been standing on them for eleven hours in a hot kitchen.
2. - Men like gadgets. Whether he is a chef at home or in a restaurant he will get great use out of this thermometer. You just point the laser at the thickest part of the meat and it instantly reads the internal temperature. He can prepare meals safely without having to touch or puncture the meat.
3. D’Artagnan Gift Certificate – many people think gift cards are “cop-outs” but gift cards give people options. If your chef likes to experiment in the kitchen like Buckaroo does he will love gift card like this one. This gourmet Butcher shop carries your regular steaks and chops but the also carry hard to find ingredients and cuts of meat like wild boar, rabbit, foie gras, morels. They also carry an extensive line of gourmet oils, sausages, mushrooms, and seasonings and you can order online and they will deliver it to your door. (If you live in the US)
4. This Chef Puts Out Tee – Because they do! Many chefs are cocky and very proud of what they do. This is a fun tee to let everyone know.
5. - Maintaining a healthy lifestyle just got easier. He can keep track of all of his physical activity and health goals as this band works simultaneously with his smart phone. There is even software to download for support and fitness motivation. The band is light and won’t get in the way when he is serving up all of those dishes on the line.
6. – This may seems simple but he will use them and appreciate them, wish you had gotten two. The object of the game is to make his job easier and a good set of tongs will do that regardless of what kind of cooking he does.
7. – I don’t care how long your chef has been cooking. New chef, old chef we ALL need a good knife. A good sharp utility knife will always be on a professional chef’s wish list.
8. Jasmine Vanilla Massage Oil – Buckaroo wants a massage for Father’s Day. That’s the only thing he actually asked for. Truth be told being a professional chef does a number on your body. You can send your chef to the local spa for a full body massage as a great gift OR…If you’re like me and don’t want folks ‘touching all on your man’ You can pick up a bottle of this Jasmine Vanilla sensual massage oil and read this article I found on giving Your husband a nice massage.
9. – I can’t express this enough how hard the restaurant industry is on the body. Feet and back problems are the top two physical complaints of chefs and these insoles can help with that. Listen. Put this, the socks from number one in a gift bag with a card. Cook your man a nice meal and end with a massage (see number eight) You will be blowing our inbox up to thank us for the best Father’s Day ever! It sounds simple but trust me…actually as I’m writing this post, NOW I KNOW WHAT BUCKAROO IS GETTING! Woo hoo! I’m going to take my own advice for once. Lol!
10. Olivewood Mortar and Pestle - Buckaroo likes to make his own spices, and pastes for seasoning. He mentioned one of these. This would be a cool gift to get experimenting with fresh flavors, as many of us chef like to do.

What are you getting your husband for Father’s Day? Did you procrastinate like I did?
I totally procrastinated but luckily he doesn't want much of anything.
I love all these items, but number 4 is my personal favorite!
