A little over a year ago Pastor Glenn (P.G.) our pastor, father, and Buckaroo’s best friend died from complications of heart disease. He is why we CHEWS RED. February is recognized as National Heart Month and as the nation wears red and raises awareness for the number one killer of women, we remember and honor “P.G.” Heart disease and associated diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke have had an alarming effect on the African American community, and in our own families. So this is a cause near and dear to Chewsy Lovers.
February 1st we launched our #IchewsRED campaign to raise awareness for heart disease through education, live demos, and workshops on eating to live, healthy lifestyle choices, and promoting healthy hearts. All month we will be sharing heart healthy recipes, food facts, and lifestyle tips to help you “Eat 2 Live”! Join our fun and tag us in anything you see, wear, cook, or eat that’s red and use the #IchewsRED hashtag to show your support.
We have partnered with AHC Designs, an independent designer of women’s apparel on the release of the “Wild Hearts” Bow Tie Collection exclusively for Chewsy Lovers. A portion of every bow tie purchased will be donated to the #IchewsRED campaign. Visit them on for more information and to purchase your tie today!
We also will be hosting an “Eat 2 Live” Twitter Chat on February 11th at 1pm, discussing healthy yumminess, and giving away prizes. So please stop by on Twitter and help us spread the word! RSVP by commenting on this post.
National Wear Red Day is Friday February 7th. Make sure you rock your red and tag us! Visit www.heart.org for more information and resources on heart disease and how you can support the cause in your local community. We have committed to adopting a healthier lifestyle this year and helping others do the same. We CHEWS RED for P.G.!
Will you stand with us? Why do you CHEWS RED!?

Fancy Faye and hubby are definitely on board. This is an amazing move that is near and dear to our hearts as well. #IChewsRed
National Heart Month is so dear to my heart since I loss both of my maternal grandparents to heart disease and have had several family members suffer from heart attacks and strokes. It is very important that we raise awareness about ways to keep our hearts healthy. Glad to see you spreading the word!
I will be checking this out. I got some tests back from my last physical that makes me wanna holler or at least exercise more.
I adore those bow ties and LOVE that a portion of the proceeds goes towards your campaign! I hope the Twitter party was a success!
