Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for Chefs

I thought it would be cool to share some Mother’s Day gift ideas for chefs. There aren’t many of us, but we are out here… mothers-day-gifts-for-chefs and more of us than you would think. I’ve been told we are hard to shop for, so my hope is to help you find something the chef on your list will love for Mother’s Day.
1. The Fab Canvas (shown in yellow) by Mozo Shoes. This brand was created for chefs by chefs. This shoe from their Farmers Market collection is just as comfortable as it is cute and they are slip resistant and water resistant, perfect for a chef on the go. www.mozoshoes.com, $70.00

2. Sugar-Spots Apron, by Anthropologie. It’s likely that a mom that’s a chef does a good bit of entertaining at home. This vintage inspired apron will take her from appetizers to dessert in style. www.anthropologie.com, $24.95

3. We spend the better part of our lives cooking for other people, so treat mom to breakfast in bed! I thought heart shaped waffles would be a fun way to say I love you. Heart Shaped Waffle Iron by Cucina Pro, www.everythingkitchens.com, $39.99

4. Chefs spend 90% of their work day on their feet. This pedicure set is a lovely way for mom to give those tired feet some TLC or get her a gift certificate to the local salon to get a pedicure. Earth Therapeutics, www.ulta.com, $17.00

5. When I worked as a breakfast cook I would literally leave my house at the crack of dawn. I rarely ate breakfast. I’m not saying that’s a good thing. I’m just saying it happens. With this single serve blender, your chef can get her day started right. Just pop her favorite fruits and some greens in for a power smoothie in the mornings and go! It also can be used for water and other drinks throughout her long work day. Oster MyBlend Personal Blender, www.walmart.com, $24.94

6. There isn’t a chef alive that doesn’t like to experiment with seasonings and rubs. This gourmet rub set by Two Snooty Chefs will keep her in the kitchen like a mad scientist. They have some cool varieties like Southwest Sedona and Salmon Chemise. 3-pack Gourmet Spice blends, www.twosnootychefs.com, $19.99

7.The Flavor Bible is an indispensable guide to creativity in the kitchen. This is probably my most favorite culinary resource EVER. It does not contain recipes. It is a guide to understanding flavor profiles and maximizing the flavor of your dishes through comparing what foods complement each other. If your chef lives to create and just try things in the kitchen, she will love this book. www.amazon.com, $34.20

8. Aches and pains in the food service industry are real. The work is fast paced, the hours are long, and many times just the working environment altogether can be stressful. Treat mom to a little aromatherapy to relax those tired muscles. She deserves it and she will appreciate it. Bath & Body Works, $20.00

9. The show must go on when you’re a mommy chef. Your duties don’t end when the shift is over. Thank her for all the dishes prepared at home everyday that she “seasons with love” with this adorable wooden cutting board. www.personalcreations.com, $29.99

10. Most chefs have to wear black or white when working in the standard industry kitchen. Nothing makes me feel more fabulous at networking events, grocery shopping, or meeting clients than a feminine chef coat in a hot spring color! Chef Uniforms carries a full line of chef coats for women in flattering styles and beautiful colors for the lady chefs like myself who still want to look and feel like a woman in this “man’s world.” Women’s Basic Fit Chef Coat in Coral, www.chefuniforms.com, $18.99

If I didn’t solve your Mother’s Day gift dilemma, I at least hope I pointed you in the right direction.
